The Questors Theatre has run Youth Groups for over 50 years. We have a range of groups for all ages from six to seventeen. These groups are arranged according to age and school year group.
We run a drama-based programme devised around the ethos of exploring an individual’s creativity and enhancing their powers of self-expression. This is conducted largely through improvisation and role-playing exercises, augmented with some text and script work.
6-10 Year olds
For younger groups, age 6-10 years (school years 2-6), there is an emphasis on imaginative play and role playing to develop their source of make-believe. Classes for these age groups run on Saturday mornings for an hour’s duration.
11-16 Year Olds
For those aged 11-16 (school years 7-12), the work consists of role-playing improvisations and acting exercises through which they can enhance
and develop drama skills. However these classes are not regarded as a training in “acting”, they are intended more as a foundation in theatre skills. Classes are held on weekday evenings after school, some for one hour, others for one and a half hours’ duration. However the classes for the oldest age group (Year 12), are held on Sunday morning and last for two hours.
Fees
The fee for all the classes is £45 per term, however if you wish to pay in advance the fees are only £75 for two terms or £110 for three terms, payable prior to the commencement of the course. There is a concessionary fee of £25 for those in receipt of benefits. Please apply to the office for further details.
Term Times
A term usually runs for 11 weeks, split by a half term break that is timed to coincide with Ealing school holidays. However the Sunday morning Group 12 does not break for half term. At the end of the three terms, in July, all the groups stage a showcase in the Studio theatre. This is a chance for family and friends to see their ideas in an informal setting.
Students who wish to continue for another year will automatically progress to the next class, which may be on a different day of the week and at a different time.
Membership Benefits
All Questors Youth Theatre members are entitled to the same benefits of membership as Questors Company Members and are also eligible for a FREE ticket to all shows (except the Christmas production for which members will be offered discounted tickets).
