Front-of-house, refreshments and Box Office
Front-of-House
The Duty Manager is in charge of the smooth running of the
Front-of-House operations, and is ultimately responsible for the safety
of the audience. The Stewards show customers to their seats and help them out with any difficulties. Programme Sellers sell programmes before the performance, so basic cash-handling skills are important.
Refreshments Counter
Volunteers work behind the Refreshments Counter, serving coffee and
snacks to the audience, and cleaning up before the performance
and during the interval. Cash-handling skills are important. The time
commitment is an evening or two each month, until around 9.30pm.
Box Office
Box Office staff sell tickets to customers in person before a
performance, as well as taking phone and postal bookings at lunchtimes.
We use a computerised ticketing system, and offer training to volunteers
who are comfortable and experienced using computers, as well as able to
work with cash and remain calm under pressure. The time commitment is
just 2-3 hours a week, either lunchtime or evening.
